Honorary member of the Urban Beekeepers' Association of Slovenia Ljubo Struna turned 95 years old on Sunday, March 2nd 2025. For his work and merits in the field of Slovenian beekeeping and its international recognition, Ljubo Struna, who has been an active beekeeper since the age of 8 (!) received the highest professional award in 2018, the Anton Janša Medal of the 1st Class. He still takes care of two honeybee colonies in the middle of Ljubljana's Murgle residential district and is an active supporter and member of our association together with his family members. At 95 years, he is probably the oldest active urban beekeeper in the world.

Ljubo Struna has also left a strong mark in his primary professional career, as he is considered to be one of the pioneers of Slovenian cinema and a legendary film producer. Among other things, he co-founded the Slovenian Film Workers' Association in 1950 (for his outstanding contribution to the Slovenian cinema, he was awarded the highest prize in this field as well - the Badjura Lifetime Achievement Award, in 2011).
